We are pleased to announce the annual Salem-Keizer School District Spelling Contest hosted by Salem-Keizer Education Foundation and sponsored by Salem Kiwanis. Registration for the district contest begins at 3:00PM, Wednesday, March 11th at Crossler Middle School.
The 1st place student’s school for each division will be awarded $250. The prize money is for a literacy program at your school. Each school receiving $250.00 is required to give a report as to how the funds will be used.
Each winner will also receive cash prizes ranging from $40 to $10 for 1st - 5th place for Division I & II and 1st- 3rd for Division III as well as an award ribbon.
By Friday, January 23rd, 2015, please select a staff member as a spelling contest contact person, and email email@example.com with that person’s name, school, and email.
The duties of the spelling contest contact person are listed in the attached Salem-Keizer Spelling Contest Step-By-Step Guide.
Between January 23rd and February 27th, your school should conduct a written spelling contest.
By Friday, February 27th, 2015, the school contest contact person will submit the name(s) of your school’s spelling contest winner(s). The spelling contest contact person will be sent a link to submit the name(s) of the school contest winner(s). Please double check the spelling of each student’s name as we will use that spelling in the District Spelling Contest program.
Wednesday, March 11, 2015, all students must check in at the registration table in the commons area at Crossler Middle School between 3:00 - 3:15 PM. The contest will begin promptly at 3:15 PM, and conclude at 4:30 PM. Once the doors are closed, late participants will not be allowed into the contest rooms.
